1. I’VE BEEN PRETTY QUIET LATELY, HA HA

i was getting my latest comic ready and then printing it and then I was at a con this last weekend. SPACE: the small press and comics expo in Columbus, Ohio. It’s a good show, especially if you’re just starting to exhibit/thinking about getting into exhibiting at cons—the prices are low and the people are friendly.

ANYWAY i used my downtime while i was there to start on some worldbuilding stuff for my next comic. I’m gonna try and make it a shorter one because a)if i aim for 12 pages i’ll probably hit 24 because that’s just how i am and b) i’d like to try for color and send it to a printer instead of printing at home this time.

IT’S GONNA HAVE ROBOTS I HOPE YOU ARE AS EXCITED AS I AM

  6. worldbuildit:

I was thinking about different kinds of public parks that I had enjoyed over the years, and I remembered this one botanical garden that we had on campus in undergrad. Not a lot of people went there because it wasn’t all that showy and there weren’t a lot of places to sit, so it was really nice to go there when you needed a moment to yourself. I figured that a botanical garden would probably make a lot of sense for a utilitarian people who care about the environment, so i thought what if they lashed some barges togehter, constructed semi-permanent pathways between them, and put in planters?

Which would work for lower to the ground plants, for sure, but then i started wondering about what would happen if there was a big storm and they had trees. Would the trees get uprooted or would they be tied down so thoroughly that if they started to tip the boats would tip also? Fortuitously, I had come across this lamp on pinterest that had a round bottom so it could wobble but it wouldn’t fall down. Figured that could work for taller plants. (there’d also be greenhouses for the more finicky transplants)

I also started thinking about plants under the water, if they would cultivate those as well. Figured the answer was probably yes, so I started thinking about those big glass tubes in zoos and aquariums, like the one in the Detroit zoo in the polar bear tank. I thought this would be a cool place to finally utilize some of the magic the sea of hte seven winds has and have areas of the tube that you could pass through like a permeable membrane. But…people can’t breathe underwater so I also started thinking about respirators and face masks.

  7. A quick repunzel sketch for @sketch_dailies over on twitter. Not….disney repunzel, obviously.

ANYWAY I FINISHED THE PENCILS ON MY NEXT BOOK I CAN LETTER AND INK NOW
